Now that the holiday festivities are over it’s time to get back to the betting action in the NHL. The rising Vancouver Canucks are in San Jose to take on the Sharks, whom they have dominated over the past 10 games.
Vancouver seems to have the Sharks number and this one is setting up in their favour, which makes this Wednesday night tilt our free NHL pick on the midweek betting menu.
San Jose and Vancouver are winners of four of the last five with both teams leading their respective divisions. The Canucks defeated the Sharks 3-2 in their only meeting this season and dominated the Western Conference Finals last season.
Vancouver is scoring with greater proficiency than San Jose, while leading the Sharks on the power play and penalty kill. Roberto Luongo has also found his game again and that makes the Canucks as dangerous as they were last year.
NHL Game Prediction: Take Vancouver over San Jose
The Montreal Canadiens are reeling in every way these days, from injuries to the press box and even with players publicly admitting they are playing awful. Something has gone terribly sour in La belle province, but they have a chance to get on track when they meet the equally bad Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.
Montreal has managed to stay slightly ahead of the Lighting in the Eastern Conference standings, and with two straight victories over Tampa Bay, their confidence should be up entering this matchup.
NHL Pick: Take Montreal on the puckline
Toronto got itself back on track after falling slightly, winning two straight before the break. They will play the Carolina Hurricanes in the second game of a four-game post-holiday road trip on Thursday.
The Maple Leafs and Hurricanes split two games so far this season, but Toronto has won three of the last four and playing much better this year than the Hurricanes.
