The most storied franchise in the NHL the Montreal Canadiens is having a disastrous year, while the reincarnated Winnipeg Jets are riding one high after another.
Winnipeg now occupies the final playoff position in the Eastern Conference, and with a three-game win streak intact the Jets are looking like the correct choice on the NHL game selection betting menu when the two face-off Wednesday in Montreal. This is our free NHL pick of the midweek with a solid payout for a likely road underdog that should get most of the attention from bettors.
The Jets shut out Montreal 4-0 a couple of weeks ago and with turmoil happening in every corner of the Canadiens roster, things aren’t looking like they will improve much time soon in La belle province. The Canadiens have lost seven of eight and can’t escape the limelight – and for all the wrong reasons.
Head coach Randy Cunneyworth has been racked through the coals for his lack of french, while P.K. Subban and Tomas Plekanec were fighting in practice. The fan support, depth among the Winnipeg roster and a cohesive unit are all pointing to the Jets getting a win and moving up the Eastern Conference standings.
NHL Game Predicition: Take Winnipeg on the road over Montreal
Ottawa has surprised even themselves with their 20 victories to date as they welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning, who have not been nearly as good as they were last season when they take to the ice at Scotiabank Place on Thursday.
The Senators have been excellent at home with a 12-8-1 record there, while the Lightning are improving, but still struggle on the road with just a 6-12-3 mark this season. The Lightning won three straight at home before starting a road trip this week in Toronto.
Ottawa doubled Tampa Bay 4-2 at Scotiabank Place last month and signs indicate the result in favour of the Senators once again.
